Samsung Genio Touch – New Generation

2010
07.12

Just one look at the Samsung Genio touch will tell you who this phone is aimed at. It features an interchangeable back cover, has built in Facebook support, comes in bright, vibrant colors and is reasonably priced. So you know that this phone is for the young at heart.

This really is a cool phone. It’s comfortable and easy to hold and is also pretty lightweight. The interchangeable back covers give a dramatic effect to the overall look of the phone. For instance, if you want a sophisticated, Apple-type look use the slick white cover. If you’re feeling playful you can change to the orange or pink cover with the swirly pattern.

The user interface is also pretty awesome. The Genio Touch has three different home screens and a ton of widgets. Just choose a widget on the toolbar and  drag and drop it on the home screen. The widgets give you instant access to all the social networks like Facebook, Youtube and Twitter, which are all pre-loaded into the phone.

Unfortunately, the Genio Touch does not have an on screen QWERTY keyboard. You have to type your instant messages and text the old fashion way, using the on screen number pad. The screen on this phone measures 71mm, so it’s a little small.

The camera on this mobile isn’t that great. The camera is  2 megapixels with low resolution and no flash. Pictures taken indoors look dim and grainy. Taking videos is possible, but again the quality is not the best.

A big disappointment however, is the fact that this phone does not have 3G or Wi-Fi. With a phone that has so many social networking and on-line features, you would think that they would include more than just EDGE for data access. Another disappointment is there is no 3.5mm headphone jack. But Samsung does supply a 3.5 converter.

The media play back capability is pretty decent. You get plenty of storage with the ability to add up to 8GB on a micro SD card. The sound quality is also good, but you should use the adaptor and your own headphones to get the best sound for your music. An FM radio is also included and if you get an optional data cable, you can create your playlists on the go.
You also get all the usual tools, like a calendar, file browser ,etc. The phone also has WMA,MP3, AAC, eAAC and eAAC+ formats.

All in all, we really liked the price of the Samsung Genio Touch. We were impressed with the smart phone like  inter-face and the ability to change the look of the phone by using the back covers. The media play back capability also impressed us.

We were disappointed however, with the 2 mega pixel camera and the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack. Also disappointing was the lack of 3G and Wi-Fi.

Basically, we’re very impressed with the Samsung Genio Touch. It’s a budget priced phone, but it doesn’t act like one. It has a slick look and is easy to use. Yes, it is lacking a few features, but for a phone in its price range, it’s worth looking into. The Samsung Genio Touch is a good cost effective touchscreen phone. Consider getting affordable mobile phone deals online as this will make it easier to purchase.

Blackberry Storm 2 9520 Mobile Phone Review – Taking the world by Storm?

2010
06.30

Let’s be honest – who buys a Blackberry for the camera? The Storm 2 has a perfectly usable 3.2 megapixel camera that is great for snaps, and with a flash and auto focus plus a decent image stabilising system it is a cut above some other comparable models, but it is a basic, simple model with bare essential video capability, and not a selling point.

This is the Blackberry forte – online use and on the move capability that is almost unrivalled. With full Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, EDGE and 3G HSDPA, plus a host of other options, there is nothing that this quad band handset cannot use to connect to. It’s very capable and superbly modelled towards those who want full connectivity in an instant. The integrated email system for which Blackberry is famous is here and is never better, and the great method of using social networking sites is right up there with the more ‘trendy’ handsets that populate the market. With SMS and MMS capability and a GPS system there is much to like about the connectivity available with the Storm 2.

Like many very powerful and feature filled handsets there is a limited talk time with the Storm 2 of five hours; this is comparable to many handsets but is also very poor when compared to many in the market. We expected more from Blackberry by now and although 300 hours standby is adequate the majority of customers will be heavy users.

For Blackberry lovers there is a dilemma here; the Storm 2 is a move away from the traditional full keyboard model and while the on screen version is excellent it’s not the same. Nevertheless, while not breaking any new ground this is a typically good Blackberry – just don’t expect to be able to surf for long without recharging.

When you’re saving money but wanting to buy a business phone like the Blackberry 9520 Storm 2. You might as well consider getting the best mobile phone deals as they are pretty easy to find online.

Acer beTouch E200 Mobile Phone Review

2010
06.22

Well priced and looking superb with its impressive touch screen, the beTouch E200 is Acer’s take on the mid range handset and is a bit of a hit. Well built and with aspirations above its station – you will fool people into thinking it cost more than it did – this is a great phone, but does it do the trick?

Make no mistake, this is a great looking little phone. The screen is so big it makes the handset look smaller than it is, and the great colour schemes add style to a design that could have been ordinary. The way it feels in the hand is good – well made, sturdy and not flimsy – and while its 146g does not put it at the top of the slim line brigade it is an acceptable size and weight all round. The neat keypad is a feature that we liked very much – the slide is very clever and extremely functional – and the way it opens and shuts adds to the well made feel. There is an overall sturdiness to this handset that deifies its good looks and dainty size, and although the keys are a little on the small size that is not a criticism unique to the E200. The only complaints that we could come up with are easy to rectify; firstly it is not as bright as some rivals, something that may be a nuisance in sunlight and brighter weather, and the touch response is not comparable to some of the better handsets on the market, and there is a concern that those unfamiliar with the operating system – Windows Mobile 6.5 – may need to start all over again.

The E200 is not marketed as a music phone and that is a good thing; the media player is perfectly adequate and the FM radio a sensible inclusion, but the model specific headphone connection ties the user to the issued set. This may be the problem, for the headphones are not particularly impressive. For calls and the standard operations of a phone everything is absolutely fine.

These features tell us that the E200 is a good music player but it’s not as good as the iPhone. If you’re interested in this cool looking phone or the iphone, you can find cheap iphone deals on the Internet to help you with your budget.

Sony Ericsson Yari- Game On

2010
06.09

The Sony Ericsson Yari has a few outstanding features that make it stand apart from the huge variety of phones on the market today. Unfortunately, this phone doesn’t seem to be able to handle some of the simplest features the right way.

The Sony Ericsson Yari is definitely a big step up for Sony and it’s a step in the right direction. This phone is one of the few devices out there right now that can manage the new game play methods like motion based game technology. This lets you enjoy the pleasures of Nintendo and Wii in a portable format.

If you love to play games and you love your music, the Yari can definitely satisfy you in both those areas. To add more honey to the pot, it has excellent audio quality too. So your games look more realistic and your music sounds amazing.

The lack of a document viewer might make you think that this phone is strictly just for pleasure, but let me assure you that this device will satisfy all your multi media needs. This is not just a phone for fun and games.

There is a pleasure trove of accessories that you will get when you buy the Yari. One of the more unique little goodies is the stand that comes with the phone. It lets you prop up your phone like a mini TV, on your desk or in your car. This makes it so very easy to view the 2.4 inch screen. This gaming mobilephone lives up to its expected functionality and that’s gaming. It has mobile phone deals online which can take advantage.

Huawei U7510 Quick Look

2010
06.03

This phone is also quite good looking and will definitely catch a few eyes. The device is offered in two different color choices, either a stunning purple berry color or a rich midnight blue.

For ease and convenience in messaging the U7510 supports SMS and MMS. You can also access your email so you can stay on top of things. You might however, want to keep your charger handy, since this device only gives you 240 minutes of talk time and only 380 hours of standby time. Not very efficient for a phone in this day and age.

We were impressed with the good reception and good software of the device, also the fact that it was very simple to use. It’s a decent bet that you’ll find this with good free gift and laptop deals.

We were not impressed with the talk time and standby time and there seemed to be a sharp noise when answering calls.

This phone was lacking in a lot of the latest technology and the Huawei U7510 could have been so much better, however, the price is low so you get what you pay for. Unfortunately, there are a lot of phones on the market today that seem to be all looks and not much technology, though of course there are exceptions. So if you’re looking for a basic phone at a good price, then the Huawei U7510 might be just what you’re looking for.
